User interviews

Overview

We researched user behaviour exhibited by Luontolive’s users to uncover what motivations, attitudes, and behaviour change was associated with using the live stream page. In addition we investigated possible user experience improvements for future versions.

Research Design

Me and my colleague (another researcher) met up with the client stakeholder to get a better understanding of the project and what the client wanted to achieve with the research project. The client was primarily interested in how their users use the service and what could be done to retain more of them. Based on the client's wishes, we designed a user study which combined a survey with qualitative user interviews.

Survey

We recruited a diverse sample of participants from the client's mailing list. The mailing list consisted of people interested in WWF and what the organisation was doing. In our sample we included a wide age group from 18 to 50 and above to hear diverse perspectives on how the users use the Luontolive service. Once responses started coming in, we arranged remote interviews where the users would use the Luontolive service and share their thoughts.

Think Aloud Interviews

We recruited a diverse sample of participants from the client's mailing list. The mailing list consisted of people interested in WWF and what the organisation was doing. We wrote a detailed script how we wanted to conduct the interviews. The script consisted of informed consent, background questions, procedure explanation, the think aloud section itself, and closing questions. Me and my colleague would both attend the interviews with one interviewing and the other observing and taking notes. We would take turns the roles. The interviews took place online with screen recording enabled.
